Rev. Dr. Charles Shannon III
Dr. Charles Lee Shannon, III, aka, Dr. Musa, is a native of Richmond, VA and a wholehearted and committed minister of God. He was installed as pastor of Mt. Level Baptist Church, Amelia, VA, in April of 1992. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, a Master of Divinity Degree, and his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in Virginia Union University. Dr. Shannon graduated from the Pastoral Excellence Program, of the Lott Carey Convention, receiving a Continuous Education Diploma in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Zimbabwe. This graduation was held at the Duke University School of Divinity. While in the Pastoral Excellence Program of the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention, he gained mission experiences in Guyana, South America, Kingston, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and in Northwest Province, South Africa.
Merits & Affiliations
Dr. Shannon is affiliated with numerous organizations and involved in many humanitarian initiatives. He served, for ten years, as adjunct Professor of Religious Education and Spiritual Formation, & Quality Control Coordinator in the Doctor of Ministry Program of Virginia University of Lynchburg. He is the Founder, President & CEO of Faith Leaders Moving Forward. Served two terms as moderator of Ebenezer Baptist Association and now serves as the first Minister of Economic Concerns. Member of Ministers’ Conference of Richmond & Vicinity. Past Chair of State & Local Organizing Committees of Richmond & Vicinity, Justice Or Else Movement.
Dr. Shannon is an empathetic and experienced mentor of youth and adults, inspiring them to cherish and respect their divine self-worth and do the same for others. Pastor Shannon models a “change agent” theology which celebrates what God will do for us, as well as, through us, for God’s glory, our good, and the good of others! Therefore, the question is: what we will do individually & collectively on behalf of God? For when we show up God shows up!
Dr. Shannon’s hobbies are fresh & saltwater fishing as well as organic farming. He is joyfully married to the former Shirley Burton, aka, Sis. Camara, and they are the proud parents of their beloved son, Ronald, aka, Bro. Iman.
